The history of theatre is also a history of the structures in which theatre takes place.  In this section, Modern Theatre Online intends to offer information about many of those physical structures.  We will also include places that were one time venues for a specific play and not a permanent structure.  We intend to have a brief history of each theatre, with relevant statistics.  In addition, we will provide information about the architects who built (or in some cases, renovated) these theatres.

Our discussions of the theatres will include both the practical and esthetic aspects of theatre design.

We will include not only the address of the theatre and the date of its opening, but also information about the size of the theatre, as well as name changes, major renovations, and, in some cases, the date of the closing or destruction of the theatre.  There will also be items of architectural and historical interest.
